1PM UPDATE: Death of man whose body was found in drain at Leverington, near Wisbech, not suspicious
Police are not treating the death of an elderly man, whose body was found in a land drain in the Fens, as suspicious.
A body found in the Fens this morning is that of an elderly man, police confirmed this lunchtime.
Children saw the body in a drain as the waited for a school bus at Leverington Common, near Wisbech.
A bicycle is also thought to have been discovered at the scene.
Officers have been at the scene in Panwell Lane, near the junction of the B1169 and Garden Lane, all morning.
This afternoon they said the man's death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be handed to NE Cambs Coroner William Morris.
A police spokesman said that the man's identity would now be a matter for the coroner to reveal once inquiries have been completed.

The B1169 remains closed in both directions. Traffic is being diverted via Gorefield.
