It's June - which means it's officially summer. And if you fancy something a little different from the usual trips to the beach, here's 20 outdoors events to get you out of the house and into the sunshine.

1. Surfing Lessons, Cromer.

Start your life as a surfer with a beginners lesson just in time for summer. Cover the basics of surfing, paddling the board, catching the waves, standing up, wave selection, turning techniques, basic surf etiquette, ocean awareness and surf safety.

2. Paintballing, Top Dog Paintballing.

Get competitive within 86 acres of green woodland, as you battle friends and family in a laugh-out-loud game of paintball. Choose your battle field game style from last man standing to defending to a village. Ideal for those looking to try something new in the open air,

3. 50 Things Thursday, Brancaster Beach.

Thursday 1st June, 10am - 4pm.

Brancaster Beach has 50 fun family things to do wether it's flying a kite, stone skimming, wild animal tracking or building the biggest sandcastle. Arrive at the beach anytime and look out for the National Trust staff and flags to guide you to the best beach day you've ever had.

Thursday June 1 and Friday June 2.

An exciting adventure awaits with High Ropes, The Big Zipper, Super Swing and the Tree Top Trial. The new Air Jump, is the first of it's kind in the country, a 16 metre tower for the brave to free fall off before landing on a giant air bag. For those looking for slightly less thrills, there's a climbing wall, archery and a cafe serving hot drinks and light lunches. Price: £20 per person for a half day, £38 per person for a full day.

5. Dyke Dipping, Hickling Broad.

Friday June 2, 1:30pm - 3pm. Expand your knowledge as you learn about all the wildlife living in the dykes at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust's Hickling Broad. Accompanied by experts to help you identity critters, it's the perfect oppourtunity to improve your knowledge of nature while enjoying the sunshine.

Price: £3 for Norfolk Wildlife Trust members, £3.50 for non-members.

6. Wild Challenge Friday, RSPB Strumpshaw Fen Nature Reserve.

Friday June 2, 10am - 2pm.

Sweep your net to find what's hiding in the meadows, get creative with wild arts and crafts including making your own butterfly feeder and take part in games and challenges. Why not treat yourself to a picnic, too? Fun for all the family, guarenteed to show you all that nature can offer.

Price: RSPB members go free. Adults £3.50, Children (5-17 years) £1.50, One child per family goes free.

7. The Three Rivers Race, Norfolk Broads.

Saturday June 3 and Sunday June 4.

Horning Sailing Club organise the first-rate event on the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads. Spectactors can cheer on competitors at the start of the race, from Acle Bridge and anywhere and everywhere inbetween. Bring a picnic and enjoy a day at the broads with some added excitement. Price: Free.

8. Easton Campus Open Day, Norwich.

Sunday June 4, 10am - 4pm.

Not just for prospective students looking to discover courses and career oppourtunties, the college open day is an enjoyable day out for all ages. Activities include, The Sheep Show, the chance to get up close to the livestock, an inflatable football game, climbing wall tractor simulator and a bouncy castle.

9. Norwich 100 Bike Ride, Norwich.

Sunday June 4, starting between 6:45am and 8:40am.

Starting and finishing in the fine city of Norwich, you'll journey to peaceful villages and through tranquil countryside as you push yourself on this 100 mile bike ride. Test yourself with 6, 8 and 10 hour-time bands.

10. Beginners Birding, RSPB Titchwell Marsh.

Tuesday June 6, Tuesday 13, Tuesday 20, Tuesday 27, 1pm.

Discover how easy bird watching is as you learn the basic principles of avian ID, plus a few hints and tips. Across a range of habitats, including marshland and fesh water lagoons, by the end of the walk you'll be able to identify a wide range of birds.

Price: £7 per non-member adult, £5 per non-member child.

11. Coastal Walk Challenge, Hunstanton.

Friday June 9 and Saturday June 10.

Fundraising for the Community Sports Foundation, the back breaking 47 mile walk from Hunstanton to Cromer is full of picturesque views and a sensational feeling of achievement. You'll be led by experienced leaders and not to worry, as there's food stops and toilet breaks along the way.

12. Bee Weekend, Oxburgh Hall.

Saturday June 10 to Sunday June 11, 10:30am - 4:30pm.

The West Norfolk Bee-Keeping Association raises awareness alongside other exhibitors of the importance of bees. Set within the breathtaking grounds of Oxburgh Hall there will be interactive displays, children's activities and trails.

Price: Admission charge to Oxburgh Hall £5.80 for an adult, £2.90 for a child.

13. Pub, Paddle and Pizza, Norwich.

Wednesday June 14, 6pm.

Explore the River Wensum by canoe, take in the sights of Cow Tower, the old Bullard and Sons Anchor Brewery and Sir Thomas More's novel Utopia painted on the side of the derelict Eastern Electricity Building by Rory Macbeth. Afterwards reward yourself with a stone baked pizza from the Red Lion Pub.

14. Vintage Rally and Country Fair, Goodrich Park.

Saturday June 17 and Sunday June 18, 10am - 6/7pm.

Journey through the ages in beautiful Goodrich Park near Diss. The list of attractions here goes on and on but visitors will be astounded by re-enactment displays, trade stands and a craft marquee full of rural craft demonstrations, as well as admiring impressive classic cars, motorbikes, steam engines and military vehicles. Children will be throughly entertained by a vintage fairgroud and donkey rides. There's a licensed bar and catering stalls.

15. Bat and Barn Owl Evening, Welney Wetland Centre.

Saturday June 24, 8pm - 11pm.

Under the cover of darkness the reserve comes alive. With the company of a warden, wander at dusk as you spot hundreds of species including eight types of bat, a range of moth species and wait patiently for graceful barn owls to start hunting.

16. Swannington in Bloom Open Gardens, Swannington Manor.

Sunday June 25, 10am - 5pm.

With a three-hundred-year-old yew hedge, Swannington Manor opens its doors, alongside The Old Rectory with it's stunning rose gardens and the Woodland Wander. Indulge with a cream tea, ice cream or homemade cake, if you really feel like spoiling yourself there's the Pimm's Terrace at Swannington Manor and local Panther Ale with a Swannington Farm to Fork barbecue on Swannington Common. There's also a tombola and classic car exhibition.

Price: £5 on the gate, £4 in advance.

17. Diss Cyclathon, Diss.

Sunday June 25, midday - 5pm.

There's three routes - 25, 50 or 100 miles travelling through picturesque towns including Diss, Loddon and Long Stratton. You'll use marked routes and downloadable maps to guide you, there's mechanical assistance along the way and a community to become part of as you take on this cycling challenge. If that wasn't enough there's a BBQ, funfair and a beer tent to enjoy!

Price: Depends on route - 100 miles - £25, 50 miles - £20, 25 miles - £15.

18. The Royal Norfolk Show, Norwich.

Wednesday June 28 and Thursday June 29.

The annual agricultural Norfolk Show has become somewhat of a tradition for many of the great county's residents, if not because you used to get a day off school, but with over 700 retailers, a momumental collection of local artisan food and drink producers and a mirage of entertainment from the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, to cooking demonstrations, fashion shows and much more. It celebrates all that is Norfolk, definitely not one to miss.

19. The Rocky Horror Picture Show Open Cinema, Holkham Hall.

Friday 30 June, doors at 7:45pm, film at 9:15pm.

Outdoor cinema's are all the rage. The reason? They're fantastic. Watching a cult classic, happy-go-lucky film under the big blue Norfolk sky is the perfect way to spend an evening. The Rocky Horror Picture show will be shown in the beautiful walled garden of Holkham Hall for one night only!

20. Sand and Sea Yoga Day, East Runton and Cromer.

Friday June 30, 10am - 4pm.

Tess from TinyDogYoga joins Amelia from AshVinYoga for a beach yoga and paddle board day at East Runton. Chase that Californian dream as you relax into an hour and a half beach yoga session and test your core at a paddle boarding yoga class. Lunch is provided.
