With the festive season and New Year's celebrations, the focus of many has shifted away from social care services and the difficulties faced by local authorities up and down the country.
The government has announced a small amount of extra money, and allowed councils to raise council tax more to fund services.
Although extra money for these cash-strapped services must be welcomed, the answer to Norfolk County Council's own social care 'crisis' must be found locally.
It is time for the county council to show leadership and a bold, positive vision grounded in closer working with partners, particularly the NHS, to ensure these vital services can continue.
