An outline planning application for 500 homes on an estate with a commercial facilities has been entered for land at Nightingale Lane.

Developer The Grosvenor Partnership 3 LLP has entered plans as well as a concept for a local centre that will include child care services, a nursery and also a small supermarket.

The application submitted to West Norfolk Council also includes infrastructure as well as areas for open space and access for the estate.

Residents have already aired their views on the council's public consultation portal, with many citing their concerns over the lack of services available to serve such a development. Others have raised concerns about increased traffic it would bring to the roads.

Other outline applications for housing estates in the town include: 285 homes for land between Wimbotsham and Downham Market; 170 homes at Denver Hill; and 50 homes in Rouses Lane.
