Derehams new fire station was opened in July 1970 by Mr RG Hooker, managing director of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd, whose Dereham factory employed several of the towns firemen. The old station it replaced had stood on the same site since 1944.

Our local fire service depends not only on its dedicated personnel but also on our network of fire stations and specialist fire fighting equipment and this week we focus on buildings and appliances that are an essential part the lifesaving service.
