King's Lynn'ss medieval trading links with Europe will be celebrated at a festival next month.

The spirit of the Hanseatic League will be returning to town over the weekend of May 20 - 21.

There will be parades, a medieval market, have-a-go archery, a hog roast and live music.

The festival is in honour of the International Day of the Hanse, a day in which all member towns of the Hanseatic League are encouraged to celebrate their history in the union so they may develop a greater understanding of their historical connections to other cities in other countries.

In the 1500s, Lynn was one of Britain's most important ports thanks to its trading links with Baltic ports like Lubeck.

Its Hanseatic Warehouse was built in 1475 and is the last remaining Hanse building in Britain. Most events take part on the quays and at the warehouse.
