Posh's tremendous away victory at promotion rivals MK Dons helped us tighten our grip on sixth place and, with 10 games to go, I believe we've got enough in our locker to earn a place in the play-offs.

Inconsistency has dogged Posh throughout the season, but the six-point gap between us and seventh place is vital as we enter the business end of the League One season.

I've looked at the remaining fixtures for Posh and our play-off rivals to predict the outcome of the games and while there will be plenty of twists and turns along the way, I believe Posh will hold on to sixth place by a healthy seven points over Sheffield United.

The Yorkshire side, with several games in hand, have been a lot of people's tips to make a late charge for the top six, but I think they're running out of time.

Another dark horse not mentioned by many are Crawley Town, who, with three games in hand on Posh, could yet have a say on proceedings, but again I think they've left themselves too much to do, even though I believe they will leapfrog Walsall, Swindon and MK Dons.

Posh face a tough start to their run-in, with games against Rotherham, Preston and Wolves in three of the next four matches, but then there appears the chance to tot up important points, with home games against Colchester, Gillingham, Coventry, Carlisle and Port Vale.

Of course, predicting Posh results this season is no easy task. We could easily surprise some of the teams above us, but then slip up in games where we are big favourites.

I've tried to take Posh's inconsistency into account in my predictions, but I could be accused of being too optimistic in predicting we'll lose only two of our last 10 games. However, I've predicted home draws against Coventry and Port Vale, which could easily end up as wins for the Posh.

No-one should underestimate the importance of our six-point cushion at this stage of the season and, if all goes to plan, I believe we'll line-up in the play-off semi-final against Leyton Orient, who look as if they'll be beaten to the automatic promotion spots by Wolves and Brentford.

Orient have been consistently much better than us this season, but we proved in our tremendous away victory against them that, on our day, we can be their match.

And then, of course, there could be the tantalising prospect of a play-off final against Darren Ferguson's old side Preston North End. I think it's fair to say that Fergie isn't the most popular of former managers at Deepdale.

Only last week I spoke of my fears that Posh weren't consistently good enough to go up, but I think I've shown today that we can still dare to dream.

Up the Posh!

That's just the ticket for Wembley

The big Wembley showdown against Chesterfield is just over a week away and it's great to see that Posh have sold more than 17,000 tickets.

No one should underestimate the fantastic response from the club's fans and let's hope Wembley fever spreads over the next few days and gets us closer, or even over, the 20,000 mark.

The last story I found in the Chesterfield media said the Spirerites had sold about 13,500 tickets so it looks as if we'll outnumber our opponents in the stands.

We also need to make sure we out-sing our rivals and play the important role of 12th man for the Posh.

Britt enjoys home fans

I enjoyed the feature on Posh hotshot Britt Assombalonga on BBC 1's Late Kick-Off programme on Monday night.

Britt came across as a really level-headed lad after scoring his 26th and 27th goals of the season at MK Dons and it's obvious that the support of his loyal family is vitally important.

Britt was watched at Stadium MK by his family and the best bit was seeing his dad joining in with the Posh fans to sing Britt's name during his match-winning performance.
