Being a child at school has changed an awful lot in 70 years, pupils at one north Norfolk primary found out.
Shirley Wade attended Antingham and Southrepps Primary School in the 1940s when she was Shirley Cooper.
And she returned to her old stamping ground to talk to children about the fish, mash and beetroot school dinners they used to enjoy, the headmaster's house and the cane, among topics.
She also brought along her old exercise and text books and her sports day certificate for the children to pore over.
Head of school Emma Harding said: 'She visited the school as she had previously been in the area and drove past. She wanted to see what it looked like now so she asked for a tour and then offered to speak to the children. I believe she visited old friends in the area as well, so she had a whole day of sharing lovely memories.
'The children said they were lucky to be at the school in 2017, and not 1947, and thanked her for a wonderful, insightful visit.'
