One reader believes he has just saved Norfolk County Council £350,000.

Norfolk County Council plans to spend £350,000 of our money on a feasibility study concerning turning old rail lines into cycle ways. Yes, it is feasible. Right, I've just saved us all £350,000.

MORE: Should former Norfolk rail lines become long distance paths and cycle routes? If bridges need to be repaired/replaced, along with other works, then it will take money to do it. Why not just put it out to tender and see what various companies come up with, or do the work yourself — may even be cheaper? That £350,000 saving by not paying for a 'study' would be better spent on the engineering required, and not lining the pockets of consultants.

I suppose old habits die hard.
