The United States' biggest sporting event takes places this Sunday, February 4. But what exactly is the Super Bowl? And where can you watch it?

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL). The match is the finale of the football season which kicked off in the summer of 2017.

This year, the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles are competing for the famed Lombardi Trophy.

The game is a lot slower than it’s English cousin and in recent years more emphasis has been put on the advertisement and entertainment side of the Super Bowl final rather than the game itself.

The halftime show in particular has become something of a mini-concert and this year Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson will be performing. Previous years have seen the likes of Lady Gaga, Phil Colins, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars and many more take to the stage.

Companies also pay huge amounts of money ($5 million for a thirty second clip) to have their adverts played during the Super Bowl. The event attracts over 160 million viewers worldwide.

So how can you join in with this huge American tradition?

We’ve tracked down four places in Norwich that are televising and celebrating the Super Bowl this year:

• Bar and Beyond, Prince of Wales Road

• The Plasterers, Cowgate
