Twins who have given recitals in the major concert venues throughout the world including New York’s Carnegie Hall and London’s Wigmore Hall are set to play at Norwich’s Assembly House.

Critically acclaimed as “the classical world’s best known guitar duo”, Peter and Zoltán Katona are the latest high profile musicians to appear at the new series of lunchtime classical music recitals.

Curated by Roger Rowe, who recently retired as programme director of the Norfolk & Norwich Music Club after his successful 20-year tenure, the monthly programme is taking place throughout 2018 in the venue’s stunning Georgian Music Room.

The Katona Twins will perform on April 19 with a programme that will include Manuel de Falla Miller’s Dance and El Amor Brujo; Piazolla Tango Suite; Granados Oriental; and a selection of piece s from Bernstein’s West Side Story.

With a sting of international prizes to their names, the duo, who were were born in Hungary, but are German citizens who now live in Liverpool, have become hugely popular for their repertoire that ranges from the strictly classical into more popular musical genres.

In 2009, as the soloists of the “Night of the Proms” they performed live to half a million people in arenas across Europe. They have previously also played together with renowned musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and world class ensembles such as the BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta.
