See what a developer did with this ugly farm building

It’s hard to think anyone could see a future for this rather unattractive, purpose-built grain store. But one developer with a great imagination worked his magic to transform it into a stunning home.
Property editor Caroline Culot went to see The Old Grain Store, Great Ellingham, for sale for offers in excess of £975,000 with William H Brown Select.
When you look at an old unconverted barn, it can be quite difficult to visualise a contemporary, all singing, all dancing home but usually there’s a bit of lovely orangey brick or a few timbers that just give you some inspiration that you could make an interesting home from what is decaying in front of you.
However, I really think Rob Lond-Caulk is just as good a magician as he is a developer! He took a building with nothing going for it at all except its location and created this magnificent new home which boasts a fantastic view from its master bedroom and balcony.
Yes, it’s a big price-tag but you get more than 4000 sqft of accommodation in a beautiful location, on the edge of a village yet with land as far as the eye can see outstretched in front of you at the rear. This land, up to 17 acres, is available to buy by separate negotiation although you do get almost an acre of garden with the property. It is for sale with William H Brown Select.
For a start, I loved Great Ellingham; its ideally situated in south Norfolk close to the A11 so you could easily commute to Cambridge or even London which is why what probably once was a sleepy little hamlet has become incredibly sought after and why there is so much building work going on there. There are also a number of really beautiful thatched properties and a good pub - so this is a good location!
You actually drive through the village on Long Street where you will find The Old Grain Store situated behind large electric gates. This is a super sized house for someone who wants a lot of space to possibly work and definitely play in. There is an ideal office/studio space above the garaging, accessed by an external staircase but the main house has lots of rooms too!
Just look at the really large, thick German made front door and it kind of gives you an idea that this house does not skimp on space nor style. It took Mr Lond-Caulk, of Norfolk-based RSLC Developments about 18 months to complete the house which has a cinema room off the hall, which could be a fifth bedroom, served by the ground floor shower room.
There’s a natural stone, heated floor running throughout the first floor which brings you into a fantastic kitchen/entertaining/living/dining area with sliding doors opening to a massive sun terrace.
You’ve got a very sleek modern kitchen in slate grey with all the gadgets you’d expect from ovens galore, an in-built coffee machine, double dishwasher, wine fridge and a pop up extractor hood. A very contemporary brushed chrome, glass and oak staircase takes you to the four bedrooms upstairs, all with really large and attractive en suites including a massive master bedroom suite with a bed head installed complete with wiring and room for your bedside tables facing the view accessed from a long balcony going across most of the width of the rear of the property.
Upstairs is carpeted by that really deep pile dark grey carpet; a home of luxury indeed and yes, all singing and all dancing too.
