Councillors have approved plans for 380 new homes in Sprowston despite the number of affordable properties being slashed to 10pc.
Developer United Businesses and Leisure Limited was granted permission to build on two fields between Salhouse Road and Plumstead Road East.
Broadland District Council’s planning committee had deferred the application in November last year following concerns about a link road through the site.
But a report which went before members on Wednesday, March 28, said the issue had since been resolved.
However, the number of proposed affordable homes had been reduced since the application was last before councillors in 2017.
The developer reduced the figure from 17.5pc to 10pc, despite a policy in the Joint Core Strategy stating 33pc of new homes should be made affordable.
The report said the development was only viable if 38 homes were affordable.
