Detective work, pirate activities and dolls' houses are just some of the family-friendly attractions on offer this summer across the county's museums.

Norfolk Museums Service is putting on special holiday sessions in various locations from King's Lynn to Great Yarmouth and Cromer to Thetford.

Buildings taking part are Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery; Strangers' Hall in Norwich; Museum of Norwich; Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse near Dereham; Time and Tide: The Museum of Great Yarmouth Life; Yarmouth's Elizabethan House Museum and The Tolhouse Gaol; Cromer Museum; and Ancient House Museum of Thetford Life.

Margaret Dewsbury, chairman of Norfolk County Council's communities committee, said the range of events was 'outstanding' which would encourage children's interest in history this summer.
