What is going on in and around Great Yarmouth this week? Here’s our top ten list of events

1. Gala concert, Great Yarmouth Minster, Saturday, June 3 at 7.30pm

The Great Yarmouth Arts Festival has organised a series of events called Music at the Minster next month. The Orchestrate Project will hold a gala concert. It features a local youth orchestra with the Norwich Young Voices and members of Dusmagrik. There will be English and French music including a Les Miserables medley and a Phantom of the Opera selection.

2. Gilbert and Sullivan singers, Magdalen Way Methodist Church in Gorleston, Saturday, June 3 at 7.30pm

The Gilbert and Sullivan Singers are staging a concert to mark the 60th anniversary of the church. Gilbert and Sullivan refers to the Victorian-era theatrical partnership and to the works they jointly created. For tickets £5 including food and drink, or to join call Mr Boardley 01493 663439.

3. Companion dog show, St Olaves Village Hall, Sunday, June 4 at 10am

The organiser of a companion dog show is encouraging pet owners to come along. The companion dog show at St Olaves has a range of pedigree and novelty classes throughout the day. Entries are from 10am with judging starting at 11am. Call Margaret Wilson on 01493 393437 for more information on the event.

4. Circus venue open day, Drill House in Great Yarmouth, from 2pm

SeaChange Arts' Drill House Open Day takes place on Sunday, June 4. The Great Yarmouth event has become an annual opportunity to try out some of the activities that take place at The Drill House in York Road. The open day features a range of activities including circus skills and taster sessions for SeaChange's new Circus Tots class, for pre-school children. The Drill House Open Day is from 2pm to 6pm. Entry is free.

5. Big band presents Rat Pack tribute, Saturday, June 3 at 7.30pm

The Jonathan Wyatt Big Band presents a tribute to the Rat Pack at the Pavilion Theatre in Gorleston this Saturday, as the band celebrates its 30th anniversary as a group. Tickets are £17 and can be bought from the box office.

6. Dance studio open day, DPA Performing Arts Academy in Gorleston, Sunday, June 4 from 10am-1.30pm

To celebrate the opening of its new dance studio, the arts academy will be letting members of the public come and views its new facility at the Longs Business Estate in England's Lane. There will be free classes for children of all ages.

7. Craft fair, Filby Village Hall, Sunday, June 4 from 10am-4pm

The monthly craft fair is taking place, and there will be around 15 stalls selling all manner of items, from jams, to basketware and greetings cards. There is plenty of parking outside the village hall. There will also be a raffle to raise money for Wetnose Animal Aid with prizes including one from Hotel Chocolat worth £100 and one from Ulimatedesigns4u.

8. Overs 50s beach clean, Palace Bingo, Sunday, June 4 at 11.30am

The Marine Conservation Society has organised a beach clean for people aged over 50 to take part. The event has also received the backing of Great Yarmouth's Ben Garrod, an expert in primatology, evolutionary studies and skeletal morphology who is forging a television career. to register as a volunteer go to: www.mcsuk.org/beachwatch/beach/great-yarmouth-central/event/2017-06-04

9. Open top bus ride, Great Yarmouth sea front, daily

After a successful reintroduction last year, a regular open-top seaside bus service resumed in Great Yarmouth last week. The Seasider departs on Sunday, May 28 and will run daily every 30 minutes between Haven Seashore and the Pleasure Beach, with special late services for the Wednesday firework displays. The double decker bus will take passengers along Yarmouth's Golden Mile, providing spectacular views of the seaside. A Seasider High5 family ticket (for up to three children and two adults) will allow all-day travel on the route for £5.

10. The Uninvited, California Tavern in Scratby, Friday, June 8 at 9pm

The band hit the local music scene in 2013, and are made up of experienced musicians from the local area. The band plays classic and modern music from the Seventies to now, embracing rock, pop, country rock, and R&B. The Harmony vocals of Nicky Rushton and Sue McNeil are a strong feature of their sound. Admission to the family friendly venue is free.
