Cromer lifeboat has returned from helping a man in his 60s who had injured his leg on a gas platform off he north Norfolk coast.

Thick fog in the area had made it unsafe for a helicopter to make the trip to the platform, about 38 miles off Happisburgh.

The lifeboat crew brought the man back to Cromer, where an ambulance was waiting to take him to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

A spokesman for the East Anglian Ambulance Service said his condition was not thought to be serious.
