Young performers are set to stage the Phantom of the Opera musical at Sheringham Little Theatre.

The show is by the older members of the theatre's youth group and follows successful productions of Les Miserables and Fiddler on the Roof.

The popular musical tells the story of the Phantom, who lurks beneath the magnificence and grandeur of the Paris Opera House. Disgraced by his appearance and forced into hiding, he falls desperately in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine Daae and devotes himself to turning her into a star.

The iconic role of Phantom is being played by 20-year-old Harry Williams.

Christine Daae is played by 17-year-old Katie Thompson. Zac Burbridge plays Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, while Zaira Palumbo sings Carlotta Giudicelli, with Joe Annison playing Ubaldo Piangi. They are supported by a company of 30 young people.

Director Tracey Loftus said: 'We have such accomplished singers among our older youth group, and we wanted to showcase their talent through this theatrical masterpiece.'

The production team also includes musical director David Ballard, accompanied by James Mitchell and choreographer Vikki Feetham.

Phantom runs from Wednesday September 9 to Saturday September 12 at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday September 12.
