The acclaimed Yorkshire Imperial Urquhart Travel Band opened the 38th Gorleston Music and Arts Festival in rousing

manner with a polished performance under the baton of musical director Derek Renshaw.

The concert opened in celebratory manner with Shostakovich's festive overture followed by a brilliant interpretation of music from the Band of Brothers.

A haunting poignant composition from Saving Private Ryan was a popular item, contrasting with

the light-hearted music following, Beyond the Sea.

A tribute was paid to the late Sir Malcolm Arnold, and the slow movement from a part of his four Scottish dances were performed. The penultimate item, music from Chicken Run, gave the audience special pleasure.

The programme concluded with Wagner's Procession to the Minster.
