The cold war Avro Vulcan bomber still looks set to fly at Lowestoft despite failing to take off at its debut show this weekend.

The restored jet, which saw action in the Falklands and is the only flying model in the world, took part in its first airshow at the weekend in Lincolnshire. It wowed crowds at RAF Waddington on Saturday, but failed to take off on Sunday.

The Vulcan XH558 will be one of the top draws at the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival on July 24-25 after being restored in a 15-year, £6m project.

A spokesman for the Vulcan said: "It was a problem with the alternator, and if the team had had the right spare parts in Lincolnshire, they could have fixed it. She is looking good to fly at other shows this year."
