An actor whose career has ranged from Shakespeare's comedies to musicals but who is probably best known for his TV roles will be treading the boards in pantomime in Norfolk this year.

Neil Capel who has starred in The Bill, Casualty, and Coronation Street and as Marty Murray in Brookside, will be playing Buttons in the Gorleston Pavilion's pantomime, Cinderella.

He will be teaming up with author and director of this production, Des Barrit who worked with Neil at the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Des says: “Neil has a natural warmth and charm which is perfect for the part of Buttons and audiences will be amazed at this versatility.”

TV favourite Helen McDermott will be picking up her wand ready for her role as Fairy Godmother for the pantomime production and she says she is looking forward to performing at Gorleston once again.

If you are ready for your seasonal sprinkling of white mice, pumpkins and magic spells, Cinderella opens on December 8 and runs until January 3.

Tickets are available through the Gorleston Pavilion's credit card booking system on 01493 662832.
