The sell-out play based on true First World War events at the Norwich Colman's factory will be coming to three north Norfolk arts venues.

fEast Theatre will be bringing the revival tour of The Canada Boys, which was performed last year, to a series of venues including Sheringham Little Theatre, The Atrium in North Walsham and Aylsham Town Hall from April 2-12.

It will feature the original cast and is due to be shown at Sheringham on Wednesday April 2, North Walsham on Tuesday April 8 and Aylsham on Friday April 11 at 7.30pm.

Set in Norwich in 1912 The Canada Boys, by Norfolk writer Rob John, is based on the story of a group of workers at J & J Colman.

Concerned by rising unemployment in Norwich, the company offered some of its employees the opportunity of a new life on the other side of the Atlantic.

The Canada Boys is the story of the two Craske brothers from Wymondham who had never ventured more than 10 miles from Norwich but dared to imagine a new life for themselves in Canada.

This funny, sad and thought-provoking play, which resonates with Norfolk voices and Norwich locations, examines the relationship between this progressive company and its workers before the war.

During the production, searching questions about love, duty and family are brought up.

Because of the interest in Norfolk about emigration from the county to Canada in the first years of the 20th century, the play's writer and actors will be holding question and answer sessions at many venues.

The theatre group would also like local history groups, schools and colleges to get involved.

fEast Theatre concentrates on showcasing new work by professional writers, actors and directors from Norfolk.
