Tribute to the Singing Postman

A Singing Postman Night is being staged just over the border to celebrate his birthday on Thursday November 18 (7.30pm).

Admirers are invited to perform one of his songs or simply turn up to pay homage at the Crab and Winkle pub on the Gatehouse, off the B1116 (Parham Road) at Framlingham. Any inquiries to Andrew on 01728 724157. Proceeds from the event will go to Salvation Army hostels.

Allan Smethurst died a virtual recluse in a Salvation Army hostel in Grimsby on December 22, 2000. He was born on November 18, 1927.
