Romance, musicals, panto, poignant drama and the story of a famous shipping disaster are among the New Year offerings just unveiled by the latest Sheringham Little Theatre programme.

A movie musicals day school, called Gotta Sing, Gotta Dance, looking at the stars, styles, and themes of big screen classics will be held on Saturday January 18 from 10.30am-4.30pm. For more information or to book email info@cinemaplus.org.uk or call 01603 625145.

A charity panto staged by the staff of North Norfolk District Council will run from January 23 to 25.

Robin Hood and the Notif of Sheringham is on at 7.30pm with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee. It is in aid of Nelson's Journey, which supports bereaved children. The last show raised £4,000.

A 10-week evening course starting on January 29 (7-9pm) is a Beginners Guide to European Cinema. Tutor Nigel Herwin provides guidance through pleasures and treasures of classic and contemporary European Film. Cost £30.

The revamped Hub coffee bar will stage two jazz events. On Sunday January 26, the Norfolk Jazz Quartet will play melodic jazz standards and music from the Great American songbook, while on February 23 Annie Slater will provide the music.

From February 12-15 the Cromer and Sheringham Operatic and Dramatic Society will stage The Elephant Man - the moving store of severely deformed John Merrick who is abandoned in a workhouse then paraded as a carnival 'freak'- before being rescued by a doctor who discovers he is intelligent and sensitive. Tickets are £9 for Wednesday evening and Saturday matinee, £10 for other shows.

In the lead up to Valentine's Day there will be a 'language of love' film season featuring the romantic comedy Amelie (February 6), short stories about the city of love in Paris Je T'Aime (February 7) and a romantic mystery drama A Very Long Engagement set in the first world war (February 8).

A stage drama centred on the Titanic on Friday February 28 will focus on the shipping boss J Bruce Ismay who stepped into a lifeboat and sailed away from his stricken ship in 1915. The 7.30pm show call The Man Who Left The Titanic is presented by Isosceles Theatre. Tickets £10, students £5.
