Playing venues including the O2 Arena in London will be a long way from her first steps on stage – in a production of Annie at Lowestoft Marina Theatre in the early 1990s with the Lowestoft Players.

But Hannah, who is the cover star of the new March issue of EDP Norfolk magazine, has fond memories of her childhood stage career.

'I started dancing first with June Glennie in Lowestoft, and then began acting and singing with the Lowestoft Players,' she says in her interview with the magazine, which is out now.

'I guess they were the natural progressions for me as a budding little drama queen.'

After winning a place at the National Youth Music Theatre, Hannah – who attended Lynn Grove High School and East Norfolk Sixth Form College, both in Gorleston – honed her acting skills with roles in Pendragon, Tin Pan Ali and the West End musical Bugsy Malone.

And she was just 18 when she was thrust into the spotlight as a TV and pop star adored by millions of fans, when she scooped a place in a new pop group that was being put together by former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller.

S Club 7 went on to have four UK Number One singles, sell more than 10 million albums worldwide and win two Brit Awards as well as starring in their own popular TV series, before they split in 2003.

Now the band, which reunited last autumn for a performance on BBC's Children In Need, is playing a series of concerts around the country in May.

Hannah, who enjoys returning to Norfolk to visit her family and friends here, also has a successful career as an actress, including in ITV's Primeval, on stage in the acclaimed One Man, Two Guvnors, and in film, with The Goob which was shot in Fenland Norfolk.

Read more about Hannah in the EDP Norfolk magazine this month, which also features the fascinating story of award-winning Norwich professor Sir Bob Watson who has been given the UN's highest environmental accolade, the Champions of the Earth Award.

The professor of environmental sciences at the University of East Anglia in Norwich was honoured for his work promoting the science behind ozone depletion, climate change and the impacts of biodiversity.

Also in this issue of the magazine, read how the 100th anniversary of the Women's Institute is being celebrated in Norfolk with a special exhibition at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse from March to November.

EDP Norfolk magazine is out now, priced £3.95.
