King's Lynn Festival-goers all have their favourite memories - and for many it's the visit of legendary jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli.
His magical music will be recreated this summer when Mike Piggott's Hot Club Trio takes to the stage. An acclaimed jazz violinist, Mike will celebrate Grappelli's musical style with guitarist Nils Solberg - who grew up in Norfolk - and double bass player Peter Morgan.
They have all played with Diz Disley, an influential figure in the second half of Grappelli's career.
Grappelli's appearance at Lynn Festival in 1974 was with the Diz Disley Trio.
'There is still a lot of interest in Grappelli's music,' Mike said. 'We mix up the Hot Club programme with the music of others including Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Fats Waller and Django Reinhart. Some people get frightened at the
word 'jazz' because it is such a vast repertoire but what we do is swing.'
The Hot Club Trio will be at the Guildhall of St George at Lynn Arts Centre on Friday July 24. Call the box office on 01553 764864.
