A stag night hangover leads to an eventful wedding day in the latest play by the Stage Direct drama group.

A Night on the Tiles tells the story of newlyweds Gareth and Shirley.

Their marriage does not get off to an auspicious start.

Gareth (Jamie Manson), egged on by his cocky, good-looking brother Kenneth (Xavier Houghton), has a post-stag-night hangover so bad that he can barely speak.

The bride is three months pregnant and the confused granddad is unsure whether Shirley (Serena Cain) is marrying Gareth or Kenneth.

Things do not improve after the wedding when Gareth overhears his bride getting rather intimate with Kenneth, apparently not for the first time.

Relations are somewhat strained between the three of them until, on the night the baby is born, Kenneth overhears something which will shatter his life.

The comic but perceptive play by Frank Vickery, directed by Nigel Manson, runs at Sheringham Little Theatre from Thursday February 5- Saturday February 7 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £10.

Stage Direct, which aims to put on plays twice a year with occasional 'radio plays' in between, was formed in 1988.

It strives to stage productions some groups might fight shy of.

Previous works include Dennis Potter's Brimstone and Treacle, written by Dennis Potter - a 1976 television play temporarily banned by the BBC - along with Joe Orton's black comedy Entertaining Mr Sloane, and the suburban satire Abigail's Party.

It is always looking to welcome new members.
