Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, near Fakenham, is again staging the Medieval Spectacular, daily from 10am-5pm over the August bank holiday period (Saturday to Monday) when more than 200 performers will be recreating the sights, sounds and smells of medieval England between the years 1066 to 1485.

There will be special events every half-hour during the day, and this year will have a European flavour, with performers from Poland, Belgium and Germany, including IG-Wolf, a 12th-century Living History group as guests of the Feudal Archers.

The star attraction will be the appearance of a fully armed and armoured knight on his warhorse.

Other events include a medieval fashion show and presentations on food and table manners, plus cookery, crafts, and souvenir market, minstrels, dancing and more.

Distinct time zones will be set up, c.1066 (Norman Conquest) c.1193 (Third Crusade), the Hundred Years War and the Wars of The Roses and visitors will be able to explore all aspects of medieval village.
