The surprise of the night for many had to be the 1980s Stock, Aitken and Waterman protoge, Rick Astley.

Now aged 48, the quiff was still there but the suit more expensive and he wowed the crowd with not just his old pop favourites but some far cooler covers.

It was a case of Tom Jones eat your heart out when he received both a bra and pair of pants thrown to him on stage which he took all in good humour.

He seemed relaxed and at ease, chatting to the crowd between numbers.

Yes we got Never Gonna Give You Up his number one pop sensation and I think the crowd sang it louder than he did but much more pleasing were his covers of Swedish House Mafia's Don't You Worry Child and the collaboration between Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams of Get Lucky.

Astley was a great crowd pleaser; he worked the stage, he worked his fans and probably turned the heads of many non fans.

His voice was just as good if not better... the boy has definitely grown up as he turned in a performance that was one of the best of the night.
