With music galore, a mix of live art and performance, and a sprinkling of festive fun, there is lots to look forward to at Norwich Arts Centre in the run-up to Christmas.
The St Benedict's Street venue has an eclectic mix of entertainment for audiences to enjoy this November and December.
Kelly Robb, Norwich Arts Centre's marketing manager, said: 'We're looking forward to packing out our venue as the winter nights draw in with our usual mix of quality live events from music to performance theatre to sing-along-cinema. 'There's something for everyone to enjoy!'
MUSIC HIGHLIGHTS
Fans of the 1970s and 1980s will be spoilt for choice over the next month - 1980s rock group The Icicle Works take to the stage on November 18 meanwhile Caravan, who made waves in the 1970s with their blend of jazz and psychedelic rock, are heading to Norwich on November 20. Former Captain Beefheart musical director and drummer John 'Drumbo' French leads the latest version of The Magic Band which will stop off in Norwich on November 25 as part of a final UK tour, and Grammy nominated Catfish Keith will also deliver his foot-stomping blues on November 14.
Blick Bassy, a soulful musician hailing from Cameroon, will be bringing his Afro-blues to Norwich on November 21 meanwhile Icelandic quintet Mammut will be performing their indie noise rock and psychedelia on November 27.
Sweet Baboo - a.k.a. Welsh solo artist Stephen Black - will be entertaining the crowds on November 30 with his wry and jaunty pop numbers.
Other highlights include the reggae/ska style music of Natty and the Rebelship on December 8, Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys' melodic folk on November 28, soul/dub group The SweetBeats on December 2, and Moulettes - a band inspired by Bjork, Pink Floyd, Bowie and Zappa - on December 19.
PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS
On November 15 Kings Cross (Remix), by writer Tom Marshman, will take audience members on a journey to uncover the hidden histories of LGBT communities through memories of the Kings Cross area.
Daniel Bye's Instructions for Border Crossing - described as the exposed gearbox of a political thriller - is in Norwich on November 22. The Norwich Arts Centre co-commission asks the audience to interact with the show as a 12-year-old girl sneaks across the border into her own country while her parents watch on a computer screen.
Magician and mentalist Luke Jermay is set to wow with his show Sixth Sense on November 24, meanwhile contemporary dancer and choreographer Hayley Matthews will present Home Solo - an intimate performance weaving contemporary dance with spoken word and live music - on November 29.
FESTIVE FUN
As the festive season draws closer, Pundemonium! LIVE rolls into the city on December 7. Described as a game show full of punishing linguistic challenges designed to put your (egg)noggin to the test, it invites audience members to compete in competitive wordplay with guest pundits drawn from Norwich's finest wordsmiths.
On December 13 it is time to get musical as Sh!t Theatre returns to present the Sing-a-long Muppets Christmas Carol.
And finally, as we bid farewell to 2017, Norwich Arts Centre invites New Year's Eve revellers to join in with Soul Stew NYE. The night will feature some of the top DJs on the Norwich music scene, including Keith Slater, Anthropologist, Chris King, PussyFoot, George Bacon, Bill Savory, Musicandlights and Adam Rogerson.
