17th-century living history is coming back to one of the National Trust's loveliest Norfolk properties this weekend.

Defend the Hall! is the title of the event (Saturday and Sunday 11am-4pm) at Oxburgh Hall, near Swaffham. See the English Civil War brought to life, as Parliament Forces enter the estate, bent on destruction.

Following the Royalist defeat at King's Lynn, rumour has reached the Bedingfeld family at Oxburgh Hall that Catholic owner and Royalist; Sir Henry Bedingfeld has been injured and taken captive by the victorious Parliamentarians. A small detachment of battle-weary Royalists are fleeing from the rampaging Parliamentarians.

You can meet the soldiers and their camp followers and watch exciting skirmishes. You might even get the chance to try on some armour. There's loud cannon and musket fire at this event.
