A charity live music event is getting to rock and roll in the normally peaceful setting of a seaside cricket ground.

Rockstock has been running at Overstrand for five years, last year raising about 2,000 for village charities.

Organiser, local singer-guitarist and music shop owner Rade Stamatov who lives in the village, said this year's afternoon and evening event, on Saturday September 10, would blend a mixture of experience and up and coming young performers.

At 3pm Andy Farnell would perform some classic hits and work with a range of young musicians.

At 4pm there is the first performance of a new local act Better the Devil.

Bernie's Midnight Shift will do a 5.30pm rockabilly slot, followed by popular local duo Mick and Dave's band.

Rade will kick off the evening session at 8pm with various guest friends, before the return of last year's headliners

Johnny Romance and the Lovers.

Mr Stamatov said the 11.30pm finale will see all the artists gather on stage for a massed performance of Hey Jude.

Crowds at the event had more than doubled from 200 to 500 over the years and he was hoping for another good turnout this year.

Funds go to the village's sports ground and Millennium group which is improving the children's play area.

Ticket prices have been frozen at last year's prices of 6 for adults and 2 for under 16's.

Advance tickets available from Stamason's Music, West Street, Cromer, Overstrand Village Store or Mike and Anne Kidd 01263 579505, as well as on the gate subject to capacity.
