The Maddermarket Theatre in Norwich is holding a Swallows and Amazons-themed open day this Saturday to celebrate the venue's summer production.

The event on Saturday, August 5 will run from 10am until 2pm.

In keeping with the theme of Arthur Ransome's classic tale about what happens when John, Susan, Titty and Roger are granted their wish to set sail on their beloved boat Swallow, there will be nautical crafts for people to take part in, including the chance to make your own little boat and design your family flag.

Tom Williams will be running technical workshops and Jez Pike, director of productions, will be talking about about the upcoming production of Swallows and Amazons which will run from August 18 until September 2. Visitors will also be given a sneak preview of the show's set design.

People will also be able to take tours of the theatre at 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm. Tours cost £5 for adults and children go free. Visit
