Drama, dance, musicals and more feature in the new season announced today for Norwich Theatre Royal.

Among the highlights is the Royal Shakespeare Company's latest production of Romeo and Juliet which will take to the stage from January 29 to February 2 and will see local school pupils share the stage with the professional RSC cast.

There is also comedy from Tom Stoppard's play Rough Crossing which heads to Norwich from March 25 to 30 and stars BAFTA award-winner Anthony Andrews, meanwhile Peter James' ghostly thriller The House on Cold Hill is in Norwich from March 11 to 16.

Dance fans have a host of shows to chose from, including Matthew Bourne's Olivier Award-winning Swan Lake from April 2 to 6 and Mark Morris Dance Group's Pepperland - a 50th anniversary tribute to The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - from April 23 to 24.

Richard Alston Dance Company will also bring a triple bill of shows celebrating Richard Alston's 50-year choreographic career from February 22 to 23, and Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole will be bringing his combination of Ballroom and Latin dancing to Norwich on March 23.

On the musicals front, The Bodyguard will be returning from April 30 to May 11, and new 1980s-inspired show Club Tropicana The Musical will be in Norwich from February 25 to March 2.

Norfolk and Norwich Operatic Society will also be presenting classic musical Guys and Dolls from January 22 to 26.

Comedy fans can look forward to Jason Manford bringing his Muddle Class tour to Norwich on January 17 and 18, meanwhile Julian Clary's Born To Mince will arrive on June 6.

Music highlights include Britten Sinfonia performing Brahms and Mahler on January 19.

There is also: Live On Mars The Very Best of David Bowie on November 5; the best of Broadway and West End musicals with Beyond The Barricade on January 2; an Elvis Presley Birthday Special with A Vision of Elvis on January 8; The Classic Rock Show UK 2019 on February 17; Mike and the Mechanics on February 20; Barbara Dickson in Concert on March 10 and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac Anniversary Tour on April 13.

The Banff Mountain Film Festival will be screening a series of thrilling, action-packed films set in spectacular scenery on March 20, and the children's show Monkey's Musical will be presented by Milkshake Live! on February 18.
