One of Norwich's theatres has a new person at the helm.
Alice Wright has become the general manager at the Maddermarket Theatre, joining director of productions Jez Pike in the venue's management team.
Ms Wright, 29, who is originally from Godalming, near Guildford, and has most recently been working as marketing and communications manager at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, graduated with a BA in drama from the University of East Anglia in 2011 and spent time working at Norwich Playhouse during her early career before working in marketing at various venues across the country.
She took up the Maddermarket Theatre post a few weeks ago and said she was excited to be returning to the Norfolk arts scenes.
'I have always felt a great sense of belonging in Norwich, particularly with my association with Norwich Playhouse and, like Nottingham, Norwich feels like a creative city with lots of new things happening and exciting work being made,' she said.
She added her first impressions of the Maddermarket were that the venue had 'such a lovely sense of family,' something she is keen to build on as well as extending the volunteer programme further.
'I could not have asked for more from my start here, the sense of community here is really strong,' she said.
She added she was pleased to see the theatre's resident Norwich Players staging the Jez Butterworth play Jerusalem this month.
'I was really excited to see the play Jerusalem on the programme because it is such an important piece of work. It's really exciting to bring a different kind of play to the Maddermarket and a play that has become such a modern classic.'
And about her favourite types of performance, she said: 'I love panto and I do like a good musical, in terms of drama it's really difficult to say because the reason I do what I do is that I like everything.'
Ms Wright has also previously worked in marketing roles at G Live in Guildford, Tricycle Theatre in London, Rose Theatre in Kingston, and Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham. She has also produced a show called Positive - which was about living with HIV - at the Waterloo East Theatre.
