You may be aware of everything you need to know about The Lord Mayor's Procession, but there are plenty more celebratory events this weekend to take part in.

Here are just some of the highlights of what each day has on offer.

Friday July 6

The funfair and festival bar in Chapelfield Gardens on Friday evening seems like a great way to kick off the festivities. It's a fun, casual event that will be on from 5pm to 10pm.

Those in the Chapelfield Gardens area from 7pm can also catch an elephant parade of five life-sized elephant puppets stomping their way up to Goal Hill before returning to Chapelfield Gardens where a circus troupe will be endeavouring to entertain spectators.

If you'd prefer a bicycle race to a Band of Fools, however, make sure to attend the unique Gas Hill Gasp at 7pm.

Saturday July 7

The procession may seem like the main event on the Saturday but there is also some quality entertainment to be had elsewhere.

Chapelfield Gardens' bandstand will host BBC Introducing between 3pm and 10pm. It's a brilliant opportunity to hear some original new music.

There's also a cross-city clowning event from 6pm to 10pm which will see street acts, fortune tellers, stilt walkers and many more eccentric characters bring their magic to the streets of Norwich.

After that the late night fireworks fired from Norwich Castle at 10.30pm may well give your Saturday the final pop of excitement it needs.

Sunday July 8

If you're looking for a more relaxed Sunday but you still want to get out and about there are a few events that stand out.

Firstly the rare opportunity to enjoy somewhat of a hidden gem. The cathedral adjacent Bishop's Gardens, complete with a grass labyrinth and bamboo glade, will be open to the public between 1pm and 5pm with a £4 entry charge.

Then, slightly more active but still with that Sunday feeling, The Great Norwich Duck Race will be taking place at 2pm.

You can find the full itinerary of events on the City Council's website.
