New Zealander Pip Brown - better known by her stage name Ladyhawke - is the darling of the fashion pack, feted for her kooky style. But her performance in the Obelisk Arena showed that she has substance as well as style. Channelling the 1980s - she takes her name from a Rutger Hauer movie, she specialises in sophisticated synth pop. A shy performer, she spent most of the time hidden behind her huge shaggy fringe, but finely crafted gems like Dusk Til Dawn, Back of the Van, Paris is Burning and My Delirium prompted some of the first full-on boogying of the day.
