A nomadic folk festival returns to Norwich for the weekend after a 13-year break. This year's Inter-Varsity Folk Dance Festival is back at the University of East Anglia main campus with concerts, dances, music sessions and workshops.

Events are open to the general public as well as UEA and visiting students.

Tonight, Friday February 25, at 8pm there's a choice of two folk dances featuring lively electric band Tickled Pink and a French dance with Norwich band Xim.

Tomorrow, Saturday February 26, starts early at the UEA with the first of 40 workshop sessions from 9am. Others will be held tomorrow afternoon and the final ones on Sunday morning. Topics covered range from Appalachian dance to Zydeco, Norfolk tunes to songwriting, melodeon, fiddle and bubble blowing!

Also on Saturday, university and Norfolk morris sides will be giving dance displays in Norwich city centre, probably in or near Gentleman's Walk, from about 10.30am to about 4pm.

There will also be a 12-hour Saturday folk dance at the UEA featuring, from 1pm UEA folk band Elessar, from 4pm Shindig, from 7pm Florida and from 10.30pm the highly-regarded band Whapweasel.

The English Contra Dance Band will play for a dance from 7pm and there will be a concert featuring the very popular Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies, and a separate Scottish dance, both from 8pm.
