One of Norwich's best known and most consistently interesting outfits, Sargasso Trio bring their upbeat, samba-infused rhythms and mellow acoustically-based songs that blur the boundaries between lo-fi indie, Brazilia, alt country, salsa and hip hop back to Norwich Arts Centre tonight (8pm, (£6, concs £4).

The concert kicks off the Hot City Sounds Festival which features more than 40 bands in nine days playing venues such as Brickmakers B2, Chapelfield Gardens and Norwich Arts Centre.

Other festival highlights include an indie-stars launch night at Brickmakers B2 this Saturday night (7.30pm) headlined by Norwich's very own Bearsuit who are joined by a quintet of bands that include Giant Robot and the City Of Tokyo, Next Big Thing 3 winners le tetsuo, Alto 45 and Trick Babies (entry £3).

At B2 on Sunday (7.30pm) it's the turn of promoters Howlback Hum to deliver a smorgasboard of eclectic and alternative tunes, from some of the most intellectual and experimental acts in the region. Expect hi-brow sets from Aldrin in the Eagle, the Gore Vidals, Elsub, Master Solo, and Tiger MCs (£2).

At the same venue on Monday (7.30pm, £2) there's an acoustic night featuring sets from Rory McVicar, Jess Morgan, Alex Carson, Alex Hill and Francis and Louis.

On Thursday at B2 (7.30pm, £2) there's a new dance night of music headlined by NBTIV winners the Kabeedies who are joined by the Brownies, Rigo Jancsi and Rupert.
