THE steam train delivering passengers to Hardingham Station this Sunday, June 24, will be the first to do so since the 1950s, unless, of course, Mercury readers can tell us differently! And it is all in the cause of a village fete.

Mid Norfolk Railway will operate a special steam-hauled fete train departing Dereham Station at 1pm to take passengers to the privately-owned Hardingham Station and a free connecting vintage bus service which will take them on to the fete which opens at 1.30pm.

The return journey, using the same vintage bus and steam train combination, will leave the fete at 3.45pm, returning via Wymondham, to arrive at Dereham Station by 5.30pm.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from Mid Norfolk Railway at Dereham Station or on 01362 851723.
