It is February half-term already. The schools are out already and that means finding things to do with the family – not easy if the weather is poor. Don't worry, Simon Parkin has plenty of indoor events that are perfect if it is raining – or snowing!

Teddy Bear Express

Bure Valley Railway, February 10-18, 9am-5pm, £13.50, children free (with fare-paying adult), 01263 733858,

All aboard half-term railway specials. Join the Bure Valley Railway mascot bear with free travel for each accompanied child and competition to see how many teddy bears can be spotted on the journey, a teddy bear quiz, colouring activities and a teddy tombola at Buffer Stop Books. Don't forget your own teddy.

Once again Scooby's ever popular Street School returns this half-term. You will be put through your paces, learn some new moves and above all have a lot of fun. Learn a fresh new routine, choreographed by Scooby, to the latest hits which you will show to your family and friends at the end of the second day. Ages 7-11.

A Spring Clean

As Gressenhall re-opens for 2018, discover what happens behind the scenes when the museum is closed. Discover how museum objects are cleaned and go behind the scenes at the Norfolk Collection Centre and see some of the object not currently on display: from a toffee guillotine to the West Runton Mammoth's skull. Our spring clean includes the Art Attack! cupboards, so get creative. All activities included in museum admission.

Brilliant Birds

National Nest Box week (Feb 14-21) has taken place for nearly 20 years. All week at Cley Marshes there will be free bird-inspired crafts and activities in the Education Centre. Also special event to encourage birds into your garden by building a wooden bird box and making your own bird food concoction (Feb 14, £4).

Evening of Love and Chocolate

Mark the uniquely local tradition of celebrating Valentine's Eve with an evening of love - and chocolate! Find out about the history of chocolate making in Norwich, get up close to our wonderful collection of Victorian Valentine cards and gifts and even bump into Mr Jack Valentine himself. It is also an opportunity to see the museum at night.

Children's Holiday Studios

An opportunity for children to develop their skills and explore materials and techniques with a practising artist. This half-term artist Annie Brundrit will reference 1920s Dadaist Hannah Hoch using the Sainsbury collection and youngsters will use drawing, collage and creative photocopying to combine faces and create unexpected portraits. Feb is ages 5-8/Feb 14 ages 8-12. Prices include materials.

The Wonderful Jack Valentine

Join the Norfolk Heritage Centre for creative, family-friendly activities inspired by rarely-seen items from their collection. Learn of Norwich's uniquely strong affection for Valentine's Day, and make 'a little something' for one you love.

Comic Art Masterclass

Kev F Sutherland writes and draws for The Beano, Doctor Who and Marvel comics, and now he'll be teaching you how easy it is. After the end of a Comic Art Masterclass, everyone goes away with a comic containing a strip by everyone in the class plus an individual caricature by Kev F Sutherland. Learn everything he knows, so you could leave school and steal his job!

Superheroes and Supervillains Workshop

Inspired by characters from comic books and films, create your very own superhero on a mission to save earth. Or perhaps you'd rather make a villain, on a crusade of destruction! This workshop will begin with making the basic puppet form. Then it's time to let imaginations run wild to create a new puppet character using a vast array of materials. At the end you will have a working puppet to take home for a show!

Egyptian Family Event Day

Some 95 years ago Howard Carter officially opened the sealed door which led to the amazing discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun. To celebrate Lynn Museum is hosting this special Egyptian family event day. Drop in at any time between 10am-1pm to take part in crafts, object handling & to learn more about the life of the Egyptians. It's free too.
