For this week's Gig of the Week I highlight Mammal Hands' upcoming performance at The Bicycle Shop, tonight from 7.30pm

Gig of the Week is a new weekly guide to top gigs in and around Norwich. We want to hear what gigs you're looking forward to and any tips you would give to rookie gig-goers. If you have any top tips please leave it in the comment section below. Come back Monday for the first of our Gig of the Week guides.

Mammal Hands are a three piece band based in Norfolk. Only forming in April last year, the band brings an exciting new sound basing influences from Jazz, World and Electronic. Since forming the band have already played quite a few gigs in and around Norfolk and although there isn't an offical EP out yet there is a fan base growing strong.

Check out their stunning performance of 'Kandaiki', played live last year at The Wharf, Norwich.

Prior to the gig, the band took a moment to answer some of my questions.

Hi guys, thanks first of all for taking the time to answer some our questions, could you please introduce yourselves and what you play in the band?

I'm Nick and I'm on keyboards and live sampling.

I'm Jessie and I play drums and percussion.

Hi, I'm Jordan and I play saxophones.

For people who maybe haven't heard of you yet, can you describe what your sound is?

Our sound is changing all the time because we are always writing new stuff and that keeps things moving, which we like. We are influenced by a very wide range of artists like Polar Bear, Steve Reich, Esbjorn Svensson and many Indian classical artists.

What can people expect from your live performance?

All three of us write the tunes together. We deconstruct the tracks and improvise so we're always on our toes interacting with each other. When we perform it's a creative process people are seeing, we try to follow the mood of the gig and let that take us to the right place, so some gigs are louder than others and might have slightly more outrageous solos.

Your currently set to play a number of festivals in July, are you changing anything to your live set to fit a festival crowd?

Possibly, playing festivals is fairly new for us so we're excited about seeing where it will take our sound.

If someone wants to get their hands on any of your music what would be the best way?

Good question, we have not released any music for sale yet. This project is still quite young and when we release something we want it to be really right. No compromise basically. If anyone wants to check us out we have some videos on youtube and a few tracks on our soundcloud, but the best way to see us at the moment would be to come to one of our shows, we always love to see new faces.
