Here's a look at some of the brilliant bakeries across the county you can visit to grab yourself a tasty loaf or two.
Timberhill Bakery, Norwich
Timberhill freshly bakes loaves of sourdough bread every day and offer a special each Sunday. Regular types available include country sourdough, white sourdough, chia and flax sourdough, spelt sourdough, pumpkin and sunflower sourdough and rye sourdough. The special flavour is apricot, sultana and walnut. Most loaves keep for three to five days, but the special lasts only 2-3 days. Prices range between £2.75 and £3.50.
Bread Source, Aylsham
Bread Source are on a mission to bring hand crafted, additive free, wholesome bread to the towns of Norfolk. Made in their bakery in Horsham St Faith, the artisan products can be purchased in their store on Red Lion Street in Aylsham or one of their many wholesale outlets across Norwich such as Roots Bistro or Louis Deli. The bakers offer everything you could possibly want, from dense sourdoughs to French baguettes.

Pye Baker of Norwich, Norwich
Pye Baker is a wholesale artisan bakery based in Norwich that supplies bread to pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops across Norfolk, as well as having their own bakery and café on Dereham Road. All of their breads are made using 100pc organic unbleached flours and locally sourced rapeseed oil. Products available include country wheaten sandwich loaf, country wheaten farmhouse cobb, white poppy seed bloomer, rye and caraway bloomer, wholemeal, malthouse seeded cobb and focaccia with olive oil, rosemary and sea salt.

Located in the picturesque Georgian town of Holt, Byfords, a B&B, cafe and store all rolled into one, is well-known for its tasty treats and is a great place to stop off to grab a loaf of freshly made bread. In their store they sell a range of artisan breads ideal for tearing, sharing, toasting and dipping.
Crusty Corner Bakery, Norwich
This independent, family run bakery is a favourite among locals, who often abandon their vehicles up and down Bell Road in their haste to get their hands on Crusty Corner's freshly baked bread and various other sweet treats. From filled rolls to French sticks this place can do it all.
Tudor Bakehouse – Diss/Long Stratton/Harleston
With various locations to choose from across Norfolk, including Diss and Long Stratton, you'll easily be able to get yourself to Tudor Bakehouse to grab a loaf handmade and baked fresh that morning. Choose from white, wholemeal, malster, brandee, multigrain, cornbread and ciabatta breads and rolls. Gluten free options are also available.
Dozen Artisan Bakery, Norwich
Dozen promise their customers nothing less than the finest bread and pastries from their bakery on Gloucester Street and if their customer reviews on Twitter are anything to go by, then they certainly deliver. Catrin Darsley said: 'the best focaccia I've had outside of Italy', while Samuel Le Good thought there was 'no better way to start the day off' than with one of their pastries.
Bircham Windmill Bakery, Great Bircham
Why not make a day out of going to buy a loaf of bread by visitng Bircham Windmill, not only will you be able to discover the history of the mill, which was built in 1846, you'll also have the opportunity to visit the bakery adjoining it, which still has its original coal-fired oven. A selection of bread is still baked their daily and kids can try their hand at their baking rolls or mini-loaves in the children's baking corner.
Wellbread Bakers, Swaffham
This family owned and operated bakery has been located in Swaffham since 2002 and is popular with local shoppers for their use of fine ingredients and traditional baking methods. Types of bread available here include wholemeal, multiseed and white as well as rolls, baps and mini rolls.
