ISABEL COCKAYNE

The club is one of Bury St Edmunds' best-kept secrets – you get top-flight comedians entertaining crowds in the heart of Suffolk.

For the Bury Festival, the club organisers lined up Tim Vine – the man who can tell more jokes per minute than anyone – and Caribbean-born Canadian comic Simon B Cotter. His observations on life and relationships had the audience in stitches. Though some jokes were familiar, his dry

delivery and unique style made a great show.

As seen on TV, the wise-cracking Tim Vine started off well with jokes like "Black Beauty – he was a dark horse" but was distracted by a woman with the dirtiest laugh in the county. He kept the CornExchange audience entertained but Cotter won more laughs.
