EMMA LEE

Like many great bands before them, Elbow swaggered out of Manchester armed with their guitars and a clutch of tunes ready to win the hearts of the record-buying public.

And the audience at Norwich Waterfront last night fell in love with the Mercury Music Prize nominated band – and their witty on-stage banter.

The set mostly consisted of fragile, lush ballads and emotionally charged, uplifting, riff-laden anthems from their acclaimed debut album Asleep in the Back.

But last night's performance was anything but snooze-inducing.

The band looked to be enjoying the gig as much as the audience at the intimate venue, but they probably will not be playing this size for long.

Catch them before they grow up.
