A quirky new take on the story of Joan of Arc performed by a 'drag king' is being staged at Sheringham Little Theatre on October 25.

Joan, starring Lucy Jane Parkinson, taps into the legendary heroine's courage, conviction and hope as the peasant girl who led the French against the English before being tried for witchcraft and burned at the stake aged 19 in 1431.

The anarchic cabaret show, which will be staged in the theatre's Hub coffee bar, sees Lucy 'drag up' as the men she defies in a production which won a trio of awards at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Little Theatre director Debbie Thompson said: 'It is a funny, poignant and intimate show and it's a great to coup to have it here in Norfolk.'

Joan runs on October 25 at 8pm. Tickets, priced £10, are available from the box office on 01263 822347 or from www.sheringhamlittletheatre.com
