Latitude boss Melvin Benn says Damon Albarn has a mouth-watering night in store after letting slip that the former Blur frontman will be joined by 'a figure from his musical past'.

Mr Benn was at Henham Park in time to catch a headlining set from last-minute replacement, Lily Allen.

He picked out Agnes Obel, Hall & Oates and Albarn as his three acts to look out for during the weekend, and said he had been asked by the latter's management to extend his set by 15 minutes.

'I spoke to Damon's team last night as he was in Montreux and this morning they said they want to stretch out his set from 90 minutes to 105 because they've got a special guest in store,' he said.

He insisted he couldn't reveal the identity of the guest, but said it would be a 'really special moment' for fans of Albarn's past work.

He also commented on the abuse Lily Allen had received from disappointed Two Door Cinema Club fans, after she replaced the Northern Irish band as the Friday night headliner.

'There are some nasty people around and automatic assumption is that those people are festival-goers, but that might not be the case. For all we know it could be people in America.

'Lily is a tough character but, that said, nobody deserves that abuse for stepping in to provide a show at the last minute. And it will be a fantastic show,' he said.
