She started out singing in her church choir, was briefly signed to a metal record label - and now she's one of the country's finest soul singers.

And the Latitude crowd were lucky enough to have Corinne Bailey Rae provide the musical soundtrack for their Saturday afternoon.

She discovered jazz and soul in the clubs of her hometown, Leeds, found her amazing voice, and was signed to a major label.

Her self titled debut album went to number one in 2006, but Corinne had been out of the spotlight for a few years, following the tragic death of her husband in 2008.

Her new album, The Sea, as you'd imagine, is ultra poignant and tracks from the new record were juxtaposed with old favourites Put Your Records On and Like a Star

Understated yet passionate, it was a truly classy performance.
