A superb bank holiday weekend for history lovers includes the two-day West Acre History Fair on Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday (10am-5pm on both days).

This lovely (and historic) village near Swaffham will echo to the sounds of the sights, sounds and atmosphere of a English Civil War battle including cavalry charges, infantry attacks, large scale cannon and musket fire by the English Civil War Society.

There will be a living history camp, Iron Age farm, Roman gladiators, displays from local archaeology groups - including the famous Sedgeford SHARP project - demonstrations of 'geo phys', local history societies, local history publishers and more, including a working Roman-style iron-smelting furnace.
