How to describe performance artist Bobby Baker? She began life as a painter, but found that canvas and the peace of an artist's studio was not enough. What she needed was an audience! So off she went to the concert halls in a show which saw her painting with food.

Food: cooking it, eating it and smearing it around is a through-line in her work. This, coupled with a love of the 'how to' manual, appears to be the starting point for all she does.

True to form, How to Live offers us 11 essential life skills which are demonstrated on a pea. Posing as a pseudo therapist, Baker takes a frozen pea and applies her 'never fail' remedies to its psyche. It thaws before our eyes.

What gives this lady distinction is an edgy stage persona that keeps the audience slightly uncomfortable, and an impressive bag of technological kit which enables her to project both live and recorded images on a giant, clinical looking white screen.

New and exciting? Maybe not. Fun to watch? Definitely.
