The fourth annual Beccles Music Festival begins on Friday September 17 with a concert by The London Mozart Players.

The fourth annual Beccles Music Festival begins this Friday, September 17, in St Michael's Church with a concert by The London Mozart Players.

One of the UK's leading chamber orchestras, the Mozart Players perform across the UK and in many other parts of the world.

This year the orchestra will be conducted by Elgar Howarth in a programme that includes a trumpet concerto by Stefan de Haan played by Paul Archibald, five folk songs arranged by Elgar Howarth and sung by soprano Sheila Barnes, and Schubert's Symphony no.5.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are �15 for adults and �7.50 for under 16s and students.

The festival continues until Sunday, September 26. Events include:

t Clarinettist Emma Johnson - Saturday, September 17, at 7.30pm in St Michael's Church.

t Handel's Messiah sung by the Beccles Festival Chorus and soloists - Sunday, September 18, at 7.30pm in St Michael's Church.

t The Jasper Smith Quintet with Ray Simmons - Tuesday, September 20, 8pm at the Waveney House Hotel.

t Poet Ian McMillan - performing his show 'Talking Myself Home' on Thursday, September 22, 7.30pm at The Waveney House Hotel.

The festival continues next weekend, with performances including an evening of Gilbert and Sullivan.
